I've been waiting for this album for 23 years to come and here it is! The spirit of the original Uriah Heep is back here! Sonic Origami proves Box and the boys can still make music that makes your heart tick faster and brings tears of happiness in your eyes. Musicianship is flying high, songs are strong and Bernie sings like an angel! This is the album that takes him up to Byron's level! Even though Bernie perhaps lacks David's charisma, he sings perfectly. Mikey also shows he is definitely not retiring but playing his ass off! Phil is doing really well in the keys, and Trev's bass swings it back into the seventies without talking about his excellent tunes. And last but not the least Lee stands hard and reliable like a rock!

Between Two Worlds opens up and really does it! The lyrics are most touching, and the middle section tears your heart apart!!! In the Moment, Questions and Change are all in full flight: their deep attitude reminds me of the seventies a lot. Again lyrically these three songs give you a great deal of message out of this world! And then my fave: Shelter from the Rain. A lovely tune from Trev, great singing from Bernie and Mick shows where he stands, when it comes to playing shining solos! There are also a couple of average songs included in SO, but I would leave them in peace and enjoy the rest of the best!!!

On the production side SO is a little lighter than Sea of Light, maybe on purpose. The instruments seem more like together "in a heap"...This is different from SOL, too, which has a very distinctive strong sound. These are not necessarily weaknesses in Origami: SO and SOL must be considered to have two different styles, but I must say I like them both very very much!

Happy days from Finland,
